Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has identified where he intends to strengthen the squad in the January transfer window.
Nabi wants to add two attackers, Matlou to leave
Via SoccerLaduma:
“The club appears to be exploring options to loan Matlou to a team where he can stay fit and get regular playing time in the second half of the season.
“Although he has resumed training after his knee surgery, it doesn’t necessarily mean he is in the coach’s plans for this season. To ensure he gets the opportunity to play, they are likely looking to loan him out. The club is believed to be searching for a team that needs him and is willing to agree to the loan terms and conditions. Given that his contract runs until June 2025, there is also a possibility that the loaning team could negotiate a permanent transfer,” an insider revealed.
“The coach seems satisfied with nearly 99% of the squad he has started the season with. He is reportedly in need of just one winger and one striker, which he has been trying to bring in from outside. However, since those plans haven’t materialized, it appears that players currently injured or not playing, including George Matlou, are not part of his immediate plans,” the source added.
Velebay move isn’t dead in the water yet
21-year-old Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi is a known target for Chiefs. Amakhosi’s Sporting Director has denied that the club directly contacted Asanele Velebayi’s parents to pitch a deal to them and sign the star. It’s believed that Spurs CEO Ari Efstathiou will be receptive to offers for his team’s prized asset in the January window, but they won’t be bullied into accepting an offer below their valuation.
Bafana plan for Congo test with a depleted midfield
Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana boss Hugo Broos will be without Thalente Mbatha, Yaya Sithole and Jayden Adams for their clash on Friday against Congo. It leaves his midfield extremely depleted. Impressive new defensive signing Rushwin Dortley is expected to start. He impressed in his first two caps for South Africa.
Will Chiefs make another move for Velebayi in January?
