RIP: Ray McCauley memorial, funeral details

The family of the late Pastor Ray McCauley, the founder of the Rhema Bible Church, has revealed the details of his upcoming memorial and funeral services.

The 75-year-old died “peacefully”  surrounded by his loved ones in his Johannesburg home on Tuesday, 8 October.

A cause of death has yet to be made public.

RAY MCCAULEY MEMORIAL AND FUNERAL DETAILS

In a press release on Wednesday, 9 October, Joshua McCauley announced the details of the memorial and funeral services for his late father.

They are as follows

  • Comfort service [memorial] – Thursday, 10 October
  • Honouring service [memorial] – Thursday, 17 October
  • Funeral service – Saturday, 19 October

All events are open to the public and will take place at the Rhema Bible Church North in Randburg, Johannesburg. The public are welcome to bring flowers to the events.

According to their website, the church has a 7 500-seater capacity.

‘JOSHUA CARRIES THE VISION’

In the statement, it was revealed that Ray McCauley had ordained his son Joshua to “take the church forward into the future”.

It read: “In Pastor Ray’s own words, he believed in honouring the past and pledging loyalty to the future.

“He always believed ‘the best is yet to come and that God is a generational God whose heart is to see the gospel preached from generation to generation’.”

In 2022, Ray McCauley officially handed over the reins of Rhema Bible Church to his son, Joshua, and his wife, Tara.

He announced in a statement: “I believe God has ordained this moment and has raised the next generation to take Rhema Church into the future.

“I am joining everyone at Rhema Church in this transition by giving my full support to Joshua and Tara as we go from strength to strength.”
