A cold front crossed Ohio Wednesday evening, ending a string of five days in the 70s to near 80 degrees. High pressure will drift across the state this afternoon.
Skies will be mainly sunny, peppered with puffy clouds. A light northerly breeze brings fall-like readings in the low 60s, after nearly a week of temperatures in the 70s. Tonight will be cool, with clouds returning late, and morning readings in the upper 30s.
A weak disturbance in the central Plains will track to the Upper Midwest, resulting in scattered showers developing, along with gusty southwesterly winds and a brief warmup to near 70 degrees. A second round of showers along a trailing cold front will arrive after sunset, but should be light and brief during Football Friday Nite.
In the wake of the front, temperatures will fall back into the upper 50s and low 60s during the weekend, which means perfect fall weather for the OSU-Nebraska game, with a noon kickoff temperatures in the upper 50s.
High pressure will build southward across the region, providing fair skies and chilly mornings through early next week.
Another substantial warmup will commence on Tuesday and continue through Halloween, when we could see our next chance for showers Thursday.
