FOR those of us who love chasing a tan, destinations like Florida and the Caribbean are always popular choices.
But some tourists are looking for something a little spicier from their holiday – and resorts across the globe are dedicated to helping visitors get to know each other very well indeed.
Gran Canaria is considered a “swingers paradise” and is home to many racy venues[/caption]
The Spanish island hosted UK festival Swingathon’s first overseas getaway[/caption]
Sun sexpert Georgie recently got a taste of Gran Canaria, a swinging capital where Brit couples flock to defrock.
But it’s far from the only X-rated holiday hotspot.
From hotels featuring a 25-person bed, to an entire town where sunbathing in the nude is mandatory, we reveal the raciest getaways of them all.
Secrets Hideaway, Florida
Surrounded by everglades and freeways, Secrets Hideaway is a resort on the outskirts of Orlando that caters to a Florida tourist market that’s not just there for the famous theme parks.
With rows of white deckchairs and bars surrounding bright blue pools, it could easily be mistaken for just any other resort – but its description as “Florida’s Adults Only Destination” gives a hint that it is anything but.
Aimed at couples and single women – entry to the parties for single men comes to $199 – the resort’s website proudly claims it will “set your inhibitions free”.
Visitors are assured that the “sexually charged atmosphere of our club and theme party action is perfect for getting to know other couples on a more intimate level.”
The logistics of the venue are well thought out, with a “triage” area of the hotel set up for sex-hungry singletons to get to know one another and find other couples to get frisky with.
Once a willing throuple (or foursome, or fivesome…) is created, they can make their way to the hotel’s centrepiece – a giant bed of many blue mattresses stacked together – that “hosts” as many as 25 people at a time.
Speaking to Vice, Secrets’ director of public relations Holly explained the rules: “In order for them to go back there they have to be with a couple, so when they enter with a couple they leave with a couple.”
With a name that hinting at its spicy nature, Secrets Florida is a popular spot for tourists after a special kind of fun[/caption]
The Florida resort has plenty of outdoor space for entertaining naughty revellers[/caption]
The hotel boasts equipment for visitors to explore their X-rated desires[/caption]
Seasonal themed parties entertain guests all year round[/caption]
There’s also a BDSM dungeon kitted out with cages, chains and flogs – must-haves in any reputable swingers’ resort.
But it’s the spectacular themed parties that attract the most visitors, complete with DJ set and (trunkless) poolside dancing – with Halloween events currently in full “swing”.
Even the staff have been known to get in on the action – because how else are you supposed to do quality control?
Cancun, Mexico
This famous Mexican holiday destination is home to not one, but two entire hotels dedicated to those for whom lounging on a beach in the sun doesn’t bring quite enough heat.
At the appropriately-named clothing-optional Desire Resort, you’ll find spicy playrooms, areas dedicated to public sex and, of course, sensual foam parties.
But what makes this lifestyle destination stand out from the others is a very special kind of staff, known as “playmakers”.
If you can’t already guess, their job is to lend a very helping hand to ensure guests are satisfied and happy.
It looks like they’re doing a good job too. According to one reviewer: “Javi was my very first run in with a playmaker during my December 2021 visit. He was running around the pool with bottles of champagne during the foam party, passing out drinks of champagne in rather fun and risqué ways.
Nearby is the all-inclusive Temptation Resort, which while apparently not as naughty as Desire, is still packed full of sexy entertainment and racy themed parties.
Hedonism II, Jamaica
Like other similar resorts, Hedonism II describes itself as a “lifestyle” destination, and is quick to deny being a nudist or swingers’ resort.
But having opened in 1981, Hedonism II has become famous for accommodating fans of a very care-free – and clothes-free – way of living.
In fact, it’s widely considered to be the number one destination world-wide of its type.
Jamaican hotel Hedonism II lives up to its name – and is attracting younger visitors every day[/caption]
Rooms are furnished with mirrors on the ceiling, while the “Romping Shop Playroom” lives up to its name with shallow pools, beds, a cage and a harness.
With toga and leather-themed parties that quickly descend into full-frontal nudity and plenty of hanky-panky, this mecca for swingers clearly provides its patrons with a holiday to remember – its repeat guest rate stands at 70 per cent, with some people having visited more than 100 times.
And the crowd is getting younger too, with one in ten guests aged between 25 and 34.
Within an hour or so of me turning up, two muscular CrossFit-looking girls got on stage to oil wrestle
One writer’s experience of Bali
But it’s not all naughty, with the hotel split into a “nude” side and a “prude” side – home to the main restaurant, where clothes are (thankfully) mandatory.
Let’s just hope they wash their hands…
Bali
The Indonesian island of Bali is known for being popular with college partygoers from Down Under, as well as Brits looking for a tropical getaway.
And there’s plenty else going on down under too.
Entire companies are dedicated to offering tours to tourists looking for a bit of spice – and not the food kind.
Trouble breaking the ice? A naked pool party should sort you out.
Already a party hotspot, tropical Bali hosts some seriously sexy parties[/caption]
And if you’re after something a little more classy, there’s plenty of private sex parties on offer – invite only, of course.
Describing her experience at one of these, one writer wrote: “Within an hour or so of me turning up, two muscular CrossFit-looking girls got on stage to oil wrestle.”
However, the scene is under threat from new laws in the country banning sex outside marriage – so expect to see a few wedding chapels popping up in the near future…
Cap D’Agde
If all-inclusive resorts feel too small and restricted, why not swap a nude hotel for something slightly bigger scale – an entire naked town?
Introducing Cap D’Agde, a sunny seaside resort in the south of France that attracts more than 50,000 visitors daily, thanks to its pristine beach and picturesque views of the Med.
The French resort has even gone so far as to make nudity mandatory on the beach[/caption]
Cap D’Adge permits visitors to strip off anywhere and everywhere[/caption]
But these are far from the only natural sights on display.
Because any tourist who doesn’t do their research will be in for a shock – and it’ll quickly become clear why this destination is dubbed the “naked city”.
Anyone and everyone is free to pop to the shops or nip to the bank completely in the nude – so there’ll be no trouble measuring your baguette or sizing up your melons.
While for many decades just a naturist destination, the noughties saw the town earn a reputation as a “sex capital”, although public PDA still gets you wacked with a €15,000 fine.
It’s now home to Le Glamour nightclub, which hosts naked foam parties for up to 1,000 people, as well as plenty of other sex clubs, fetish shops and businesses catering to the more free-spirited tourists.
Nudity on the beach is mandatory – a nice little racket for the council, given that anyone keen to get their kit off must pay a €6 “nakedness tax”.
Sunscreen sellers…thank me later.
Gran Canaria
As Sun sexpert Georgie found out when she jetted off to join in Swingathon’s first saucy getaway, this Spanish island is fast becoming the swinging capital of the world.
X-rated shops and clubs can be found next door to ordinary stores, while couples are also known to sneak off into the dunes for a sand-coated romp – prompting officials to cordon them off overs fears of environmental damage.
Tourists looking for a family holiday on Gran Canaria might be in for a shock if they head to some parts of the island[/caption]
Come the night, the Cita Centre Mall is a magnet for swingers, with numerous clubs accommodating every desire they want to indulge.
Speaking to Georgie, participant Matt Mitchell, 39, a machine operator from Lincolnshire described the island as “filth – with a healthy dose of family fun.
“The shopping centre is the Mecca for swinging. People from all over the world come here to meet other swingers,” he added.
Other visitors welcomed the huge variety of bars, clubs and hotels available – all geared up to couples looking to get up to a bit of partner-swapping fun.
There’s also the annual fetish pride festival, proof enough that the island has embraced its racy status.
Spice Resort Lanzarote
Keen not to be outdone by nearby Gran Canaria, Lanzarote is home to Spice Lifestyle Resort.
It’s centrepiece? A fifty-person whirlpool – no doubt designed to mix up couples as much as possible.
And for the more artistically inclined among its patrons, the hotel also lets guests book into boudoir and erotic photoshoots and filming – certainly a change from the usual holiday snaps.
Ever proud of their unique offering, the resort hosted the very first Spice Europe Lifestyle awards.
Categories included best lifestyle blog, best lifestyle fashion label (they wear clothes?), and, of course, the best lifestyle party host.
It’s unclear if the awards have been held recently – but rest assured the celebrations went on very long into the night…
Blackpool
Not everyone’s a fan of flying – so for the more patriotic partner-swappers, there’s always good old Blackpool.
Step back from the beach and you’ll find plenty of adult entertainment for when the Pleasure Beach doesn’t deliver.
Donkeys and rollercoasters aren’t the only things being ridden in the British seaside town[/caption]
It’s home to a swingers club complete with dungeon, offering – in true British fashion – an action-packed “Bonk holiday weekend.”
The club, called Infusion, keeps a busy schedule including “daytime orgies” in April and even events celebrating St George’s Day.
One person who stayed at another racy hotel in the town described her stay.
She said: “I turned up to a very ordinary looking hotel, with a functional bar and people in couples or on their own – here was a very beige looking buffet of sausage rolls and garlic baguettes.
“There was a woman there who was so open with her son that they ended up going to swinging clubs together – though they made sure never to be in the same playroom as they drew the line at seeing each other getting hot and sweaty.”
It’s little wonder the council’s keen to get many of these places shut down and clean up the town’s reputation.
