‘So sad’: SA heartbroken over Siya and Rachel Kolisi divorce

South Africans are heartbroken following the news of Siya and Rachel Kolisi’s divorce, announced on Tuesday 22 October.

Springboks captain Siya Kolisi and his wife, Rachel have announced that they are ending their marriage, via a joint statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday 22 October. Take a look…

“We wanted to share some important news with you. After much reflection and open conversations, we have mutually decided to end our marriage,” read the joint statement.

“This decision comes from a place of love, respect and understanding that this is the best path forward for both of us. While our relationship as a couple is changing, we remain great friends and committed partners in raising our children with the same love and care they’ve always known,” read the joint statement.

SOUTH AFRICANS REACT TO SIYA AND RACHEL KOLISI’S DIVORCE

Taking to the comments section of the Facebook post, South Africans expressed how sad they were over the news.

“You served as a source of inspiration for couples of all ages. This is deeply saddening, I wish you all the best during this transition,” wrote Siyanda Calvin Ntenga.

“My heart as I read this💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔,” wrote Martha Naledy Malandu.

“When leaders like you give up on their marriage I really get shuttered and disappointed. One thing about public marriage is that it’s meant to bring hope, show humanity that love is possible, encourage men (and) woman to marry. I guess maybe you guys worked on your public relationships and forgot the actual marriage. Aiii guys please dnt let divorce win,” wrote Tsepho Baloyi.

“Very heartbreaking, Rachel and Siya. You were the power couple, the role models for so many of us. I pray that God give you guys strength during this time. Much love,” wrote Alida Smith.

“Haw, thats so sad, wish you can make peace and not allow the enemy to win. More grace,” wrote Lihle Fortu.

“This is the saddest news I have read Today. May God grant you strength to pull through that difficult phase of life,” wrote Aubrey Nchabeleng Tebeila.
