Springboks star Damian Willemse took to Instagram to pay tribute to his grandmother on Sunday 6 October.
DAMIAN WILLEMSE LOSES GRANDMOTHER
Springboks fullback Damian Willemse is grieving the loss of his grandmother. It is unclear how his grandmother passed on. The Springboks star called his grandmother his pillar of strength and went on to say that he would continue to make her proud.
Take a look…
“How do I say thank you Grandmas. You have been our pillar through thick and thin. Thank you for all the good times, hardwork and not too little the love you gave us always. You raised us all so beautifully to be the children we are today. I will miss your vetkoek, pancakes and sago while listening to Bella and Juanita Du Plesis’ Gospel 🥹,” he wrote.
“I will always keep you with me in my heart and make you proud for all the times you had to walk to work from Strand to Somerset West to come and support my brother’s rugby matches with not much. What a strong and beautiful lady who did God’s work. Rest well Grandma you are where you belong in Heaven with God. Until we meet again, l love her and she loves me because she told me so 🕊️❤️✨. Your son
Damian,” he continued.
DAMIAN WILLEMSE WAS RAISED BY HIS GRANDMOTHER
The rugby star previously revealed that he was raised by his grandmother as his parents often worked different shifts.
“My mom and dad were working different shifts, so either an early morning shift or working through the night, that kind of stuff. So they couldn’t always be there for me,” he said on Future Minds podcast.
“So my gran took me under her wing and she actually raised both my brother and I. I think my gran and obviously, my family raised me with very good values,” he continued.
