Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy president Floyd Shivambu is seemingly enjoying life in his new political home uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party under his new leader Jacob Zuma.
Shivambu who co-founded the EFF in 2013 resigned from his position and joined the Zuma-led party where he has since been appointed as national organiser.
FLOYD SHIVAMBU ENJOYING LIFE OUTSIDE THE EFF?
Floyd Shivambu is among high-profile politicians who ditched their parties and joined Zuma including former Johannesburg council speaker Colleen Makhubele and Jacob Zuma Foundation spokesperson Mzwanele Manyi.
Recently, former heads of state-owned entities Brian Molefe, Siyabonga Gama, and Lucky Montana who are charged with corruption for their alleged involvement in State Capture were also sworn in as MK Party members of Parliament.
Following his shocking move, Shivambu was appointed as national organiser. His job includes building branches and regions nationwide, overseeing research and policy development, and appointing MK party members to parliament and provincial legislatures.
Shivambu took to X (formerly Twitter) to reiterate that joining MK Party remains one of the best decisions he has ever made.
NATIONAL ORGANISER LEADS IMPORTANT COMMITTEE
Meanwhile, Shivambu has been chosen as head of the economic transformation committee in the MK Party. Notably, former Democratic Alliance (DA) and ActionSA member Bongani Baloyi who recently joined the party has also been chosen to serve in a few committees.
EFF WILL REMAIN EVEN IF PROMINENT MEMBERS RESIGN
During the media briefing where Shivambu announced his resignation, Malema assured EFF members that the party was not disintegrating, saying the doors of Winnie Madikizela-Mandela House would remain open for the foreseeable future.
Further, Malema said the party’s policy does not allow members who have resigned to join other parties to return to the EFF. However, Shivambu can return to the Red Berets should he wish to do so because he is not just a comrade but his dear and because he co-founded the EFF.
“The day you decide to come back, you are more than welcome,” he said.
Does this mean there is a chance that the two could work together again in the future?
