Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has clarified that the Betway Premiership is their main target this season.
The 28-year-old striker has been one of the Buccaneers’ important players in the past 10 months. Last season, he was loaned out to Moroka Swallows where he found form before returning to the team in January.
Orlando Pirates have already won the MTN8 title this season but Mabasa says consistency is key if they are to have another good season.
“The biggest things for us are to be consistent and get the results regardless of the performance that we may put out there,” he said as per IOL.
Orlando Pirates striker talks about unity in the team
“The most important thing in the league is results. And that’s what we are aiming to do together as a group. Those are the things we’ve got to do for ourselves.”
“We’ll continue to work hard towards doing that. The unity between ourselves, and the belief we have in one another, hopefully, will help us to pull through … so that we go all the way,” the Pirates striker said.
So far this season, Mabasa has netted four times across all competitions. Last season, he scored 16 goals to claim the Golden Boot for the first time in his career.
Orlando Pirates are in action this weekend against Magesi FC in the Carling Knockout Cup. The match will be played at 15:00 on Saturday at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
