All Elite Wrestling star Killswitch has been rushed to hospital after a terrifying medical incident.
The 39-year-old AEW wrestler also known as Luchasaurus, who was once signed to WWE and appeared on the US version of Big Brother, is reportedly recovering after his fiance found him ‘collapsed’ on Friday, before he was taken to hospital.
According to Fightful, who noted they had permission ‘from those close to’ the star to share the information, his blood oxygen level was ‘below 80 percent’ and he had pneumonia in both lungs.
It’s said he was ‘days way from permanent lung damage’, while he has been on oxygen since being admitted to hospital.
The former champion – who has held trios and tag team gold in AEW as well as the TNT Title – has been told recovery could take over a month, while a projection for his in-ring comeback is unclear.
His last matches for AEW came at All In London as he appeared in two matches at the company’s Wembley Stadium event.
Before that, he wrestled just once in May, June and July respectively, with no matches in April and one in March, meaning his total for the entire year is eight bouts.
Fans and fellow wrestlers are praying for his recovery, with no further details revealed about his condition at this time.
British YouTuber and wrestler Simon Miller tweeted: ‘Man, all the best to Luchasaurus. Always such a good dude (dinosaur) when I’ve run him into him Sending him positive thoughts and a swift recovery.’
And the star’s former AEW teammate Marko Stunt wrote: ‘Whatever
@luchasaurus has going on in his head right now, idk.
‘But I’ll never forget the times he stuck his neck out for me, both in and outside the ring. Genuinely cared for and protected me.’
Luchasaurus – real name Austin Matelson – first started wrestling in 2009, and signed a developmental deal with WWE in 2012, where he stayed for two years.
From 2016, he built his reputation in Lucha Underground and on the independent scene, before joining AEW in 2019, initially in a team with Jungle Boy (Jack Perry) and later aligning with WWE legend Christian Cage.
During his wrestling hiatus, he moved into reality TV and appeared on two series of Big Brother in the United States, as well as Access Hollywood and The Price Is Right.
