Trolling again? Rassie changes X profile pic [photo]

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has done it again with another troll-worthy move on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In addition to winning back-to-back World Cups, the coach – nicknamed a “national treasure” – has also led the squad to win the Rugby Championship trophy, the Freedom Cup, and the Nelson Mandela Plate.

The Boks beat Argentina 48-7 in a momentous victory at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Saturday, 28 September.

RASSIE ERASMUS CHANGES PROFILE PIC AFTER RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP WIN

Just hours after the Springboks lifted the Rugby Championship trophy, Rassie Erasmus changed his X profile picture to reflect the shiny new cup.

In the comment section, many rugby fans laughed off the gesture. Others praised the coach for his hard work and support of his players.

SuperSport even posted a meme about Rassie’s impressive trophy cabinet.

Last month, Rassie denied claims he was playing “mind games” or “trolling” his opponents, particularly New Zealand’s All Blacks.

This, after he changed his X header to a picture of the Web Ellis Trophy with the dates of the last two winning countries, South Africa and New Zealand. As he has done with other countries the Springboks have played, he also followed the All Blacks on X.

He said in a media briefing: “No, it’s just interesting to me. It’s not mind games. Guys tweet stuff about their teams, and you see it and might learn something there. It is like getting the newspaper.

Rassie admitted that he made the move to “spy” on the team.

He added, “You look there and try to see what you can see. It’s really just nice to know what they are up to when they arrive.”

WHO WILL THE SPRINGBOKS PLAY NEXT?

Meanwhile, the Springboks have just three matches left on their 2024 test schedule. Sadly, all of them are abroad.

Here’s who and when they will play next…

  • 10 November: Scotland vs SA (Murrayfield, Edinburgh)
  • 16 November: England vs SA (Twickenham, London)
  • 23 November: Wales vs SA (Principality Stadium, Cardiff)
