WATCH: Pitch invader FINE after massive hit: ‘He asked for his beer!’

The spectator who was tackled by security after the Springboks’ Rugby Championship Test against Argentina in Nelspruit on Saturday is reportedly in good health – and even asked for his beer – despite rumours he sustained a serious injury.

According to Caxton Network News, suggestions that the spectator suffered an injured shoulder – or even had died – have been debunked.

After being escorted off the field by paramedics, the spectator was treated on-site and released shortly afterwards, without requiring hospitalisation.

Intoxicated

According to Mpumalanga Department of Health spokesperson Christopher Nobela, the individual was simply intoxicated and even asked for his beer after being discharged.

Security faced multiple challenges as spectators invaded the field after the final whistle, with some showing off impressive evasive footwork.

Although most were stopped unscathed, one managed to weave past five lines of defence, before a security guard brought him down with a tackle that would’ve made Eben Etzebeth proud.

As the Springboks were conducting post-match interviews and posing for photographs near the tunnel following their 48-7 win, the crowd watched as the fan was tackled behind them.

Mbombela Stadium manager Roelf Kotze, who was still gathering details about the incident, attributed it to excessive alcohol consumption.
