SuperSport United left-back Lyle Lakay says he will welcome the signing of former Kaizer Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic to the club.
The 32-year-old recently parted ways with TS Galaxy despite netting 10 goals in 29 games last season. According to FARPost, Nurkovic has agreed on terms to join SuperSport, The club are looking to strengthen their attacking department following Bradley Grobler’s injury.
Kokota Piano joined Kaizer Chiefs in 2019 and went on to score 21 goals and provide 10 assists during his three-year stay. Speaking during the Carling Knockout Cup draw, Lakay did not confirm reports that Nurkovic joined Matsatsantsa.
“There’s always rumours [on player’s transfers], I’ve also read about the rumours on the newspapers,” Lakay said.
“With Nurkovic he has proven himself in the country, you know he is a top striker, he is a top footballer. So if we do get him, it will be a good signing for the team.

“At the end of the day it, comes down to the team signing him, like I said I’m in the dark as everyone. There is rumours but we don’t know if he’s coming or not but at the same time as players who are there we have to deliver,” Lakay said.
If Nurkovic ends up joining SuperSport, he could lineup against Kaizer Chiefs on 26 October. The two teams face off once again in the Carling Knockout Cup last 16 in what was the pick of the draw.
