FABIOLA Kramsky is a three-time Emmy winning journalist and a recipient of the prestigious Premio Nacional de Periodismo award.
She is also the wife of George Gascón, a district attorney who made the bombshell announcement that he would be asking a judge to reconsider the Menendez brothers’ sentences.
Becoming a nationally-renowned journalist
Fabiola was born in Mexico and grew up in the stunning city of Zapopan before moving to the nation’s capital Mexico City.
Family was important to her from a young age and her love of hispanic culture is something that drives her in her journalistic work today.
Eventually, she landed a news internship after wowing the “Walter Cronkite of Mexico” Jacob Zabludovsky.
After completing her internship, she became a news presenter at Televisa before landing a job as a news presenter for Univision.
She has even started her own media company named Tuiris Media Network, which enhances online visibility for small businesses and working people.
Her journalism often focuses on uplifting hispanic communities and she works with several philanthropic organizations in her spare time.
Meeting George Gascón
George Gascón was born in Havana, Cuba, but moved to Los Angeles as a child.
After joining the Los Angeles Police Department, he rose through the ranks to become Assistant Chief of Police.
In 2011, he became the district attorney for San Francisco and held the position until 2019.
Fabiola met George in Los Angeles, in 2006, while he was working as an assistant chief, and they tied the knot just three years later.
When he became police chief of San Francisco in 2010, she moved to the Northern Californian city with him.
George Gascón and the Menendez brothers
The Menendez brothers were sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1996, after murdering their parents Jose and Kitty in August 1989.
In court, the brothers claimed that they had been sexually abused by their father and had killed their parents because they feared for their own lives.
The prosecution claimed that Erik and Lyle Menendez had murdered their parents for financial gain, since they stood to inherit millions of dollars.
However, a shocking piece of evidence surfaced years later which flipped the case on its head.
A letter, written from Erik to his cousin Andy Cano, was discovered and the letter details the abuse that the brothers had detailed in court.
Also, Menudo member Roy Rossello claimed in 2023 that he had been sexually assaulted by Jose.
On October 24, 2024, George announced that he would ask a judge to reconsider Erik and Lyle’s sentence.
He hopes to have their sentence reduced to life in prison with the possibility of parole or a 50-year-sentence with the possibility of parole.
George said: “However, because of their age under the law, since they were under 26 years of age at the time that this crime occurred, they will be eligible for parole immediately.”
San Francisco living
George and Fabiola now live in San Francisco, which is a city that Fabiola loves.
She shared that she loves the Golden Gate Bridge, because it reminds her of the “great works of mankind” and inspires her to “push for greater things in her career.
Fabiola told the San Francisco Chronicle that she makes time to work out at least five days a week despite her hectic city life.
She said: It’s very rewarding when you finish – I know I did something good for my body and mind.
“This is the time when I get the best ideas or when I advance any project the most. My mind is free and my creativity strikes, so I get inspired and just do it.”
