Kaizer Chiefs and Stanely Nwabali became related names, but a move never came close to materialising.
STANLEY NWABALI COMMENTS ON KAIZER CHIEFS REPORTS
The story was everywhere, Amakhosi were said to be chasing the 28-year-old Nigerian goalkeeper. Instead, former TS Galaxy goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari made the move to Kaizer Chiefs.
“I wouldn’t say I was really affected by what happened after last season and after the AFCON because it’s football,” Nwabali told iDiski Times.
“Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t work but as a footballer one thing is for sure is that deals come and deals also crash.
“But one thing I know is that even with all this happening you don’t have to lose your value as a soccer player.
“With everything that happened, I even felt like I was going to leave the club but I’m still with the club so it doesn’t change anything,” Ntwari concluded.
KAIZER CHIEFS COACH NASREDDINE NABI ON EDSON CASTILLO
It seems like Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has hinted at a major message to Edson Castillo.
Speaking to the media after giving Castillo his first start last weekend in the 2-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns, coach Nabi said the 30-year-old Venezuelan can’t be given too many opportunities.
“Castillo last season started good, but he went down [in his performances] that is the statistics, maybe that situation impacted his morale, his confidence and after the bad time continued,” Nabi via iDiski Times.
“In this moment after the pre-season started, the real Castillo has not come back. He’s a good man, he’s a gentleman, I respect him. I helped him regain confidence in himself, step by step. I think [against Sundowns] he was better than his last game.
“I give him a chance, but there’s not many chances to give, because of the responsibility of the club, I think he’s professional, if he receives his confidence back, he will progress,” the Kaizer Chiefs mentor concluded.
GOOD FOOTBALL TO COME
Meanwhile, coach Nabi later gave his views on the surprise 85,000 fans that were witnessed for a Sundowns and Amakhosi game.
“Yes, for that I want beautiful football, not now but I think with a club like Kaizer Chiefs with a big DNA, it’s needed. If you propose beautiful football with results, I think the fans come back,” Nabi said via SABC.
I need them, I need the fans, all the players need the fans, honestly in bad and good moments, I need them but I promise the fans, step by step we will propose very beautiful football because for now we are only on 20% from what I imagine from Kaizer Chiefs [style of play],” he concluded.
