WORTHINGTON, Ohio (WCMH) — A Worthington middle school announced it is closed on Tuesday after police were notified of social media threats.
McCord Middle School is not in session on Tuesday as the school district was notified Monday night of threats and closed the school out of an abundance of caution. The Worthington School District said it received reports from students and parents that a member of a Snapchat group on Monday threatened to carry out a shooting at the school.
Columbus police, along with the Counter Terrorism Unit, was put in contact with the families that saw the threat and is investigating the threat. Worthington and Columbus police officers were called to school grounds Tuesday morning. The school district said parent-teacher conferences will go on as scheduled.
